Position Summary
The Dishwashing Attendant will be a key member of our team, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area by ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitized efficiently. This role is crucial for maintaining the hygiene and operational flow of the kitchen, supporting the team in delivering high-quality food service. As a Meals on Wheels professional, you are
expected to embody core values, including compassion, dedication, and a commitment to serving the community.
Essential Functions
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to
- clean and sanitize all dishes, utensils, and cooking tools.
- Pre-rinse and scrape food from dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.
- Hand-wash oversized or delicate items when necessary.
- Ensure all items are properly sanitized and free from food residue.
- Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing and kitchen area, including sweeping, mopping, and removing trash.
- Clean and store pots, pans, and utensils properly.
- Follow all health, sanitation, and food safety guidelines.
- Report any maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns to the Deputy Director.
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and dishwashing detergents.
- Assist kitchen staff with food preparation tasks as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client, staff, and business-related information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Physical stamina with the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills, especially in emergency situations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate kitchen equipment.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or dishwashing role is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a kitchen environment, which may involve exposure to heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
- Physical requirements include standing, bending, and working for extended periods, as well as lifting and carrying heavy items.
- Typical schedule includes daytime hours Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
